Le commun

European research center dedicated to the silenced works

Over the course of twenty years working to promote the heritage of suppressed composers and performers, the Forum Voix Etouffées, under the leadership of its founder Amaury du Closel, has collected hundreds of scores, recordings, manuscripts, and unpublished documents by numerous composers and performers from the field of Entartete Musik, and more generally, music that was suppressed in the 20th and 21st centuries.

Making this wealth available in order to stimulate its dissemination is one of the missions of the Forum Voix Etouffées. Thus, in 2024-2025, the ensemble embarked on the first large-scale digitization campaign in its history, with the aim of creating a digital resource center accessible initially to researchers and specialists in this field who are partners of the Voix Etouffées Forum, and subsequently to the general public. The purpose of this center is to support the rediscovery in France and Europe of this immense repertoire, which embodies the values of democracy and unity defended by the Forum Voix Etouffées. For this reason, it has been named Le Commun, what brings us together.

The 2,000 resources digitized during this first wave are currently undergoing editorial processing in accordance with a set of specific criteria. While waiting for them to be made available for free consultation, you can already visit the project website.
